What is PDRN?
PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) is a purified DNA ingredient used to support skin repair and regeneration. It comes in injections, creams, serums and masks. Injectable versions are known as skin boosters. Because it is sourced from salmon, it is often called the “salmon DNA facial.”
PDRN vs PN (polynucleotides): what’s the difference?
Both come from DNA, but the chain length is different. A 2025 review proposed a simple cut-off: under 1,500 kDa is PDRN, 1,500 kDa and above is PN. The two terms have long been used interchangeably, which is why many people are confused.

Because PN is thicker, it is described as acting like a scaffold inside the skin.
Is Rejuran PDRN or PN?
Rejuran injections are PN. The maker, PharmaResearch, labels the injectable ingredient DOT PN and the skincare ingredient c-PDRN. So if you searched “Rejuran PDRN,” the treatment you get at a clinic is a PN injection.
Is PDRN really made from salmon sperm?
The DNA is extracted from salmon germ cells and then purified. That is where the nickname “salmon sperm facial” comes from. What goes into your skin is a purified DNA ingredient.
What does PDRN or PN do for your skin?
Studies report support for skin repair, less inflammation, smoother texture and softer fine lines. Most people choose it for skin texture, glow, hydration and firmness. It is also used alongside acne scar and pore treatments. It is not a filler and does not add volume.
Results vary from person to person, depending on your skin.
Does it hurt? What anesthesia is used?
Rejuran is injected in many small points into the upper layer of the skin, so it can sting. At Newstar Clinic, we apply numbing cream before every treatment. If you prefer, sleep sedation is also available. Please request sedation when you book.
What is the downtime?
You may see small raised bumps at the injection points, with some redness or swelling. Bruising can also happen. These usually settle in 1 to 2 days, and bruises may take a little longer. If you have a photo shoot or wedding, leave a few days in between.
How many sessions do you need, and how long does it last?
A course of 3 to 4 sessions, 3 to 4 weeks apart, is common. After that, many people return every 6 to 9 months, or once or twice a year. One session is fine, but results are clearer with a full course. Changes build up over several weeks.
Why can’t I get Rejuran injections in the US?
Injectable PN and PDRN are not FDA-approved, so US clinics can only offer topical products. Rejuran is approved by Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS). It is also registered in Australia (TGA) and offered by clinics in Singapore and the UK. This is why many visitors from the US book Rejuran during their trip to Seoul.
PDRN injections vs PDRN microneedling and skincare
Injections place PN or PDRN at a set depth inside the skin. Microneedling with a PDRN serum, and PDRN creams or ampoules, are applied on the surface, so it is hard to control how much reaches deeper skin. Most “PDRN facials” and “salmon sperm facials” offered in the US are this topical type.

The cost depends on the type (Healer, HB or Eye), the amount in cc, and any treatments you combine it with. At Newstar Clinic, your doctor checks your skin first, then we give you the final total including 10% VAT before treatment. Everyone pays from the same price list, whatever their nationality.
Can I get Rejuran on a short trip to Seoul?
Yes, even on the day you fly home. Plan 1 to 2 hours for your visit, including numbing and waiting time. Small bumps can stay for a day or two, so avoid booking it right before an important photo shoot. Many visitors combine it with a lifting treatment such as XERF. Your doctor will plan the order and timing.
