Summary

CellREDM is an ECM skin booster made from donated human dermis, cleared of cells, freeze-dried and milled into a fine powder. Instead of signalling your skin to make collagen like Rejuran or Juvelook, it supplies dermal building blocks directly. What it is, how it is regulated, and who it suits.

Summary

CellREDM is an ECM (extracellular matrix) skin booster made from donated human dermis that has been cleared of cells, freeze-dried and milled into a fine powder. Where Rejuran and Juvelook "signal" your skin to make collagen, CellREDM "supplies" dermal building blocks such as collagen and elastin directly. In Korea it is regulated as human tissue, not as a medical device, and it is not FDA approved. Newstar Clinic is a manufacturer-certified CellREDM clinic, and our Chief Doctor Kang Kun Woo serves as a CellREDM Medical Advisor.

CellREDM at a glance

  • Made of: acellular donor dermis powder, particles under 75 µm

  • Maker: Hans Biomed, Korea's first tissue bank (AATB-accredited) · launched September 2025

  • Status: regulated as human tissue under Korea's Human Tissue Act · no FDA or CE approval

  • Similar treatments: Rejuran (PN), Juvelook (PDLLA) — but they work differently

What is CellREDM?

CellREDM is an ECM skin booster launched in Korea in September 2025. ECM stands for extracellular matrix: the structural material, such as collagen, elastin and glycoproteins, that surrounds the cells in your dermis. As we age, this matrix thins out, and skin becomes thinner and less firm. CellREDM places that structural material, in micronized powder form, into the dermis. It is made by Hans Biomed, Korea's first tissue bank, and has been distributed in Korea by Hugel since July 2026.

What is CellREDM made of? Is it really human skin?

Yes. The manufacturer describes CellREDM as human tissue: allogeneic (donor) acellular dermis that has been freeze-dried and finely milled. In plain terms, donor dermis is processed to remove cells and genetic material (decellularized), freeze-dried, and ground into a powder with particles under 75 micrometers. No cells remain; what is left is the structural matrix, mainly collagen and elastin. At the clinic, the powder is mixed with a liquid and injected into the skin.

This type of material, called acellular dermal matrix (ADM), has been used for years in reconstructive surgery, such as burn and breast reconstruction. CellREDM takes the same material and prepares it as an injectable powder for aesthetic use. We always explain this before treatment. If a human-tissue-derived product is not something you are comfortable with, we will recommend a different booster such as Rejuran or Juvelook instead.

Is CellREDM safe? How is donor tissue screened?

According to the manufacturer, the raw tissue is sourced from an AATB-accredited tissue bank (the American Association of Tissue Banks), and only from donors who gave prior written consent for cosmetic use. The process includes donor infectious-disease testing, tissue-bank storage, decellularization and milling, and quality control. In Korea, only tissue banks licensed by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety may handle it, under the Human Tissue Safety and Management Act.

To be honest, the long safety record of ADM in reconstructive surgery does not automatically transfer to an injectable powder, and as of October 2026, Korean health authorities are reviewing whether products like this should be regulated as medical devices. The common reactions are temporary redness, swelling or bruising at the injection sites; small bumps that settle over a week or two have occasionally been reported. CellREDM is not used during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or where there is an active skin infection.

Is CellREDM FDA approved?

No. CellREDM has no FDA or CE approval. It is regulated in Korea as human tissue, and exports to Singapore began in 2026. Rejuran is not FDA approved either, which is one reason patients from the US, UK and Australia travel to Korea for these boosters.

How is CellREDM different from Rejuran and Juvelook?

All three are called skin boosters, but they work in different ways.

  • Rejuran (PN): polynucleotides derived from salmon DNA that stimulate the skin's own repair response. Approved by Korea's MFDS as a medical device

  • Juvelook (PDLLA): biodegradable polymer particles that prompt collagen production. Approved by Korea's MFDS as a medical device

  • CellREDM (ECM): directly supplies the structural components of human dermis. Classified as human tissue

Think of it this way: Rejuran and Juvelook send your skin a signal to get to work, while CellREDM delivers raw material. Which is right for you depends on your skin thickness, age and the change you want, and your doctor decides at your consultation. We compared the first two in our guide: Juvelook vs Rejuran.

What is the evidence for ECM skin boosters?

Honestly, it is early. As of October 2026, no clinical study on CellREDM itself has been published. One randomized, split-face trial of a similar human acellular dermis booster, in 20 adults followed for 20 weeks, was published in an international journal in 2026 and reported no serious adverse events. It was a different product and a small study, and we don't overstate it.

What does a CellREDM treatment involve?

After 30 to 40 minutes of numbing cream, your doctor injects the product into the dermis at multiple points. Injection usually takes 20 to 30 minutes. The full face is the usual area; the neck and backs of the hands can also be treated. Discomfort is mild to moderate. Redness and injection marks typically settle within a few hours to a day. Avoid saunas, alcohol and intense exercise for two to three days.

Most patients have one to three sessions, three to four weeks apart, depending on their skin. Because the collagen structure takes time to settle, changes appear gradually over several weeks. Your doctor sets the exact number and timing at your consultation.

Who is CellREDM for, and who should choose something else?

It is worth considering if you are in your late 30s or older with thinning, less firm skin, or if you have already tried Rejuran or Juvelook and want a different approach. It is not the right choice if a human-tissue product conflicts with your beliefs or religion, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you prefer products with a longer track record. In those cases, Rejuran or Juvelook is a more comfortable option. Either way is fine with us.

Why do patients choose Newstar Clinic for CellREDM?

Newstar Clinic is an official CellREDM-certified clinic designated by the manufacturer, and our Chief Doctor, Dr. Kang Kun Woo, serves as a CellREDM Medical Advisor. That means the person treating you is someone who advises the company on the product itself. We also tell you plainly what the product is made of and how far the evidence goes before you decide. An English-speaking coordinator stays with you from consultation to aftercare.

How much does CellREDM cost in Seoul?

The cost depends on the number of syringes and the areas treated. At Newstar Clinic, your doctor checks your skin first, then we give you the final total including 10% VAT before treatment. Everyone pays from the same price list, whatever their nationality.
