What is the difference between SkinVive and Rejuran?
Here is how Dr. Kang Kun Woo, our Chief Doctor, explains it: "SkinVive is hyaluronic acid. Once it is in the skin, it holds on to water, so it works like a reservoir that draws in moisture when your skin is dry. Rejuran contains polynucleotides extracted from salmon. In the skin, they act as a repair factor and help the skin recover."

What is SkinVive?
SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM is a microdroplet hyaluronic acid gel from Allergan's Juvéderm range, with lidocaine added to reduce discomfort. The US FDA approved it in May 2023 to improve cheek skin smoothness in adults 21 and older, and later approved it for neck lines as well. In the FDA study, results lasted at least six months. In Europe, it has been sold since 2017 under the name Volite.
What is Rejuran?
Rejuran is a skin booster made of PN (polynucleotides) derived from salmon DNA. It supports the skin's own repair process and helps thin, tired skin recover. It is widely used in Korea but is not FDA approved, so it is not available in the US. Learn more in our guide: What Is PDRN, PN and Rejuran?

Can you get SkinVive and Rejuran together?
"Of course. You can get both together." Dr. Kang names three things healthy skin needs: hyaluronic acid, collagen and repair factors. When all three are in balance, the skin barrier is stronger. Combining SkinVive (hyaluronic acid) with Rejuran (a repair factor) restores moisture and supports repair at the same time.

How long do they last, and is there downtime?
In the FDA study, SkinVive results lasted at least six months, and most people return to normal activities the same day. With Rejuran, small injection marks can stay for a day or two. Your doctor sets the number of sessions and the timing at your consultation.
Why is Rejuran not available in the US?
Rejuran has not been approved by the US FDA, so US clinics cannot offer it. That is why many patients who have tried SkinVive at home get Rejuran for the first time in Korea or elsewhere in Asia.
